# Post‑Study Work Visa Pathways for Syrian Refugees in Canada
The Trudeau Scholarship offers $30,000 CAD per year for two years to eligible Syrian refugee students pursuing a master’s degree in Canada.
Who Qualifies for These Pathways
| Visa Category | What It Enables | Who Can Apply |
|----------------|----------------|---------------|
| Post‑Study Work Permit (PSWP) | Allows graduates to work in Canada for up to 3 years (4 years if you earned a master’s). | Syrian refugees who complete a Canadian post‑graduate program that is at least 8 months long. |
| Canada Experience Class (CEC) | Fast‑track permanent residency for skilled workers with Canadian work experience. | Refugees with at least 12 months of full‑time work post‑graduation. |
| Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) | Enables nomination for permanent residency by a province. | Refugees who study in a province and secure a job offer in a skilled occupation. |
| Global Talent Stream (GTS) | 12‑month work permit for highly skilled foreign workers. | Refugees with advanced degrees and a job offer in a STEM field. |
| Post‑Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) + Express Entry | Combines work experience with points‑based immigration. | Syrian refugees who secure high‑skill employment post‑graduation. |
These pathways are interconnected: a scholarship‑funded master's or PhD program not only finances your education but also unlocks a post‑study work permit, which in turn can lead to permanent residency through CEC, PNP, or GTS.
